Once again I find myself writing a review on a multiple book series instead of one book at a time. I can only say it's not my fault ..... honest. It is actually my Kindle's fault, I found the 2nd book in the series in my recommended list. Recalling the easy "Keys Vibe" from the 1st book I bought the book and we were off. I read all of the rest of the books currently in this series end to end. Each time I finished one book my kindle tossed up the next one and 1 click later I was deeply immersed in another Meade Breeze adventure. I have just finished the 5th, hopefully not the last, book in the series with Ed's note informing me that he is taking a short hiatus from writing. I would rather have seen a 6th book awaiting my pleasure, but I can't begrudge Ed and his wife a well earned vacation.I have thoroughly enjoyed the great stories, so well crafted by a writer that obviously has first hand knowledge and a love of what he writes about. I would recommend this series to anyone who wants to escape to the Keys and beyond with a colorful cast of characters led by a slightly flawed hero that you can't help but like.
Another great adventure tale. Meade Breeze has developed into one of my favorite fictional characters. Right up there with Doc Ford, Thorn, Mac Travis, Buck Reilly, and Travis McGee. In fact, Breeze is trying to live his life like his own favorite folk hero, Travis McGee, taking his retirement in little chunks and only taking on missions, when the money supply gets low, or there's a beautiful boat babe that needs help. I really enjoyed this latest story from Ed Robinson and hope that while he and his wife are on hiatus in the Berry Islands this summer, he continues to put pen to paper for another one.
The best of the series, I think. I downloaded it on March 19th and could not put it down, read it in one sitting. If you're familiar with the series, this latest offering brought back one of my favorite characters from Breeze's past, I did not see that coming until the last moment. The ending left me saying to myself, no way. It also left me jonesing for the next installment of the times and tales of Meade Breeze. Best read for me in awhile.
Breeze is up to his old antics. A beautiful and sexy woman, brushes with the law and morality, and of course, good boat tales. There is something captivating in the way Ed Robinson describes boating life. It is realistic. He really nails down the difference between the powerboat and sailing mindsets. Sailors love a stiff breeze and the waves are secondary. Power boaters are looking for calm passages. All in all, good light hearted entertainment.
As with the other 4 books in the series this is a great read. I enjoy Breeze's character. While this tied together the last book I hope we have not heard the last of Breeze. He seems to be up for a few more missions. While I gave the book 5 stars because I do enjoy them I hope Ed puts a little more effort into Breeze getting himself out of trouble. The last two books I think he was getting off easy.
Now I am addicted to Breeze. I started out with the books in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am reading as fast as I can. Breeze is a bigger than life character. I can hardly wait to see what happens next. On to 6.
Breeze charts a course he hopes will end on a tranquil island with a beautiful woman. Some things get in the way, though, and there are twists and turns. The narrative put me right there on those beaches, in the coves, and in the marinas. The characters are genuine and endearing. As with the previous books in this series, I loved this story.
I have now read two Breeze adventures, Redeeming Breeze and this one, Bahama Breeze. I enjoyed both very much. I now live on a houseboat but not in Florida, however I lived in Florida for twenty years. These books really made me miss Florida. I am going to wait for the next Breeze book before I read another one in the series. You will understand why if you read Bahama Breeze.
