From School Library Journal

PreS-Gr 1—Teckentrup's simple rhyming story presents a short lesson in how bees pollinate our world. At the break of dawn, the little bee buzzes and floats past birds, deer, and other animals out to the meadow where the flowers grow. She knows that she has "a special job to do, gathering nectar…from every foxglove [and] every rose, dusty with pollen." From bloom to bloom she goes, with the sun as her compass. As she works and travels, the pollen goes with her. When she discovers a field with "flowers as far as the eye can see," it's time to head back to the hive to spread the news. Soon, the other workers join her and leave "the gift of pollen behind" as they travel, playing their important part in the life cycle of plants and flowers. Teckentrup's colorful mixed-media illustrations are enhanced digitally. The pages have a hexagonal die-cut, suggestive of a honeycomb, with a drawing of a bee at the center. Each cutout is smaller than the previous, creating an appealing frame. Although a simple presentation, this book is well suited for an introductory look at pollinators. VERDICT A recommended read-aloud for most elementary classrooms or informational book collections.—Roxanne Burg, Orange County Public Library, CA

One of the most beautifully illustrated books I have encountered. I teach preK and this story was perfectly appropriate and engaging in text and pictures for helping kids learn about bees and how they help in nature. Would definitely buy as a treasured gift for a child or teacher. Planning to get more books from the creator based on how wonderful this one is!

Really like this book. The pages are beautiful, the story flows very well, and as a beekeeper I do love the theme! This series of books is quite good - I enjoy "Moon" a lot, but "Tree" not so much.

3rd peek through book from Teckentrup and it's amazing. Beautiful illustration and simple prose to describe the little bee. The peek through adds another layer of creativity a child can learn when dealing with paper craft.

This book is awesome! The illustrations are rich and colorful and is a true feast for the eyes. The story is a sweet but accurate rhyme about the important role bees play in making plants grow. The cut-outs were great as well and worked in a different way than I was expecting. Definitely a gem for your bookshelf!

such a cute book. not 100% accurate from a beekeeper perspective, but very cute illustration and a nice homage to the bee.

My child's favorite book. Stunning artwork. Calming, educational, rhymes weave a beautiful picture. Look for the ladybug hidden on every page.

Love books by this author and the overall topic. However not one of our favorits - kinda drags on.

It is a class hit. All the students want to read through this book. Some want to take it home to read to their younger siblings.
