I have 4 boys under the age of 5, 3 of which are 2 and under (twins). They love to be read to and this is actually one of their favorite books.We don’t read anything imaginative or not rooted in reality, most books dumb things down quite a bit but not this one. The vocabulary and explanatory words are superb for a child being brought up in a home seeking to rush to adulthood. We are training our children in the way they should go, and so most of what we teach is useful and not wasted information. We strive for sober thinking with all gravity on our small farm. We are starting from scratch to be market farmers and this book surely fit the bill to also coincide with our life happenings. My only complaint is the artistry is a bit confusing to them as to what may be going on on two of the pages, but in the grand scheme of life I’m sure it won’t cause issue with the overall message of the story of a city pigeon seeking the sweet country life... as are so many folks as well right?I talk about the country and the animals and trash in the city and Greg the Grass Farmer as I point to all the drawings; they enjoy it enough to ask me to read it several times a day. It opens my 5 year old up to a lot of questions about our farm. Wish this book covered just a bit more of Greg is up to on his grass fed farm!This book probably wouldn’t interest a Disney watching, video gamey kid as it isn’t fast enough, whimsical in any way and requires thinking.

The book opens with city-born Patrick the Pigeon’s experiences with the noise, crowds and lack of green space in his urban home. He catches some glimpses of another world at the farmers’ market, which piques his curiosity about what might exist beyond the city boundaries. When Patrick follows a farmer to the country, the book provides a delightful, expressive description of the sensory delights he experiences. The book’s metaphor for those of us who have the same longing as Patrick is not only relevant for the next generation, but also meaningful and inspiring for readers of any age. On a more detailed level, the book provides its young readers with information I’ve not seen in any other children’s book. For example, the perfectly created drawings of grasses (timothy, fescue, and orchard grass); and those of wildflowers (including chickory, red clover and dandelions) will leave both children and adults with valuable knowledge and, perhaps, a thirst to learn more about the plants that nourish animals raised on country pastures. Readers will gain a much deeper understanding of what that black-and-white “grass-fed” label in the supermarket means (or should mean). The activity page at the end of the book offers more insights into the nuts and bolts of farm life. But best of all, adults and children who read this book will be offered the opportunity to experience vicariously the true sensual pleasures of country living. What a treasure! I hope the Salatins will produce many more children’s books like this in the future.

I'm loath to write this because I admire Joel Salatin so very, very much. _You Can Farm_, _Pastured Poultry Profits_, and _Salad Bar Beef_ changed my life quite literally and I know I'm not alone in that either. His straight forward non-fiction writing style effectively communicated so much of what I needed to know to get started lunatic farming and gave me so much hope and purpose. Creative writing, however, is clearly not his forte. This book has very little literary merit. The story is a contrived platform holding up some didactic bits about the infrastructure on a polyface-style farm, and while I ultimately agree with Salatin about... so much... that's not what I'm looking for in a book for my daughter. I was hoping for a story that was first and foremost a good story, like "Peter Rabbit," but set on a sustainable farm. The quality of the book as a physical object was also highly disappointing. The flimsy paperback came out of the package bent and bound with an already failed adhesive. If I had paid $5 for it, I might keep it, but I'll be sending it back. ~Rachel (Who shares an Amazon account with Jacob)

Makes note of farmers market, natural food store, conventional farming vs sustainable farmland, grass vs plush pasture, tells of different types of good pasture grasses, shows the farmer talking sweetly to his cattle, discusses rotational grazing, and teeming insects in the healthy, fertile grassland. Good intro into holistic farming for a city kid, or good exercise in confirmation for a farm kid.

I thought origami was a "tame" art form, but I was mistaken. This book takes origami to the next level. The art, in fact, is so diverse that it is almost difficult to categorize the many artists works. McArthur does the reader a favor by categorizing the art by artist so we can delve into the art that strikes us at the moment.I have no doubt this book will make the art lover in your circle smile and wonder. It is not traditional art, but that's the wonder of it all. Is this really paper? Prove it to yourself and dive in to this wonderful book.

A beautiful book as promised and an eye opener to the possibilities of what papers can do and be. However, I was hoping to find some basic information for people with little experience to get started or lured into this paper art, and found almost none - except for one page that shows all possibilities of what 2 simple cuts can make. All in all, a nice coffee table book and a conversation starter.

The variety of human imagination never ceases to delight and surprise me.This book is no exception.

I have made many of the recipes from this book now. And I've loved every single one. There are a lot of basic how to dehydrate books on the market. This is not one of those. This a book about how to have fun and make yummy goodies with your dehydrator. I have recommended this book in my various dehydrating groups and friends have now also purchased it and loved it. Any book can tell you how to dehydrate a fruit or vegetable. This book has Innovative recipes such as spicy coconut maple pumpkin chips. Normally you don't know what to do with your Halloween pumpkins. I was looking for extras from friends because I wanted to make more of those awesome chips. This book contains recipes for how to make your own healthy corn chips, garlic zucchini chips, delicious double dehydrated coconut vanilla banana chips and so much more. The double dehydrated balsamic strawberries were like eating strawberry wine candies. This book also does have the basic information about dehydrating but it lets you go beyond that to make healthy and delicious snacks and treats. It has recipes for main dishes, desserts, and even treats for your pets. It has recipes for herbs and seasonings, crackers and flatbreads, beef jerky and fruit roll-ups, just all kinds of things. Nice cookbook but not what I had imagined. There are nice recipes but not the total instruction I was hoping for as a beginner in dehydration. If you are a seasoned dehydrator I feel this would be good but not for just beginning.

Great book for all things that involve dehydrating. Tips and tricks across the board for meats, fruits, etc. The book makes things easy and you feel like a pro. I highly recommend for people new to the hobby or experienced alike. A must have for any fan of dehydrating foods.

After reading the positive reviews I decided this was the Dehydrating book for me. The book is well written, the pictures are nice and there are a ton of recipes, but I gave it a 4 star because I didn't learn anything about the basics for preparing Blue, Black, Cran and Raspberries for Dehydrating. A quick guide on bananas, grapes, plums, kiwi, mango, cherries and strawberries, but no other berries are mentioned. I make my own protein bars and add Dehydrated blueberries, cherries, cranberries and blackberries I purchase from our local Health food store, so felt it would be less costly to do this myself. I use my Dehydrator most often for my home grown Herbs and learned how to prepare them and Dehydrate from the book Rosemary Gladstar's" Medicinal Herbs" for beginners.

Wonderful detailed instructions with photos. Can’t wait to be able to use a lot of these recipes.

Truly a gem! This Holiday Crafts book is a complete guide to making beautiful crafts for every occasion all throughout the year. Even for those of us who are not very good at homemaking , this book will make things so simple, one will be as tempted as i was to try all of the ideas in it. I especially liked the Thanksgiving wreath that I accomplished easily! Well written and easy to understand instructions, too!

My family is big on DIY activities. We started a tradition long before when my kids were still young and could start making their own "works of art" that for special occasions we do things on our own. It's made for a lot of family moments and cherished memories. Kitty's book has definitely posed a challenge for me and my family. When we saw this book online we knew that we had to complete each and every one of the holiday crafts in her book. Starting with the Christmas crafts she has "challenged" us to do. I know this book will add to the many projects we have completed as a family!

There are so many crafts compiled in this book. It will be impossible not to find one I can do for the this coming holiday. Many of the crafts use materials that are readily available either at home or from the local craft store. I just found it hard to locate the images since only links were provided which take the reader to a web page which does not really show the actual photo of the project, I still had to browse and download required stuff before I got to the image. It would have been nice if there was a thumbnail of the image which can lead to the website. At least it saves the reader some time searching. Generally, the crafts here are excellent. I give this huge compilation of crafts 4 stars.

I bought this book for my mother and she fell in love! She has always been a crafty person but also likes to see others ideas. They inspire her. She has already been through many of these crafts, some following to a tee while others she adds her own flare. I highly recommend this book to any craft lover.

It is a high quality photography works. Exposure And color management are very good. I like Dylan Rosser's work very much.

I had hoped to find frontal standing poses of men. Instead there were just too many cropped cut up photographs. I didn't really care for this.

Have followed his work for some time. Each book has developed as a challenge for his future endeavors. Worth the wait.

I'm very happy Chevy and Violet finally got their own story! And it's a good one. Violet was so angry and hurt in Oz/Emily and Razor/Breanna's books that I wasn't sure how I'd feel about her narrative. But I ended up connecting to her right away. Possibly even the most of these three heroines. Even though I'm probably the least like Violet, I appreciate that she echoed a lot of the concerns and questions I had about how women are treated in this Terror Motorcycle Club. Ever since Violet's dad died while working for the Terror MC, she's done everything she could to separate herself from the club, and that's meant breaking up with her first love and ex-boyfriend Chevy. Despite how harsh Violet could come across, I love that she always knows who she is and what she wants, and demands respect and to be treated equally.Chevy is still in love with Violet, but as he's still connected to the Terror - his grandfather is the president and he's has always planned to join when he turns 18 - while Violet is determined to get out of their small town as soon as she finishes high school. There doesn't seem to be a way forward for them that doesn't lead to heartbreak. But then Violet and Chevy are thrown together again in a frightening event, involving the rival motorcycle club the Riot, and their feelings are brought to the surface once again.This book is all about whether these two can find common ground and a way forward together, despite what looks like completely different paths. It's also about taking down the Riot club once and for all, and I love the strong role Violet takes in working to make that happen. This is a girl who gets things done. Although we don't get to see Emily or Breanna in this book, I loved seeing the bond between Violet, Chevy, Oz and Razor that they've had from childhood. Long Way Home also connects to McGarry's Pushing the Limits series, and one of my favorite moments was when Chevy meets Isaiah for the first time, and both boys realize their connection to each other. I love Isaiah, and I wanted that part to go on forever!This story also seems to tease some potential future stories in this world. I don't think McGarry is finished with it yet. Or at least I hope not. Breanna's friend Addison makes another appearance in this book, and she definitely needs an HEA. Some other plot elements are left unresolved as well (the names of the traitor(s) in the Terror MC). And though I loved watching Violet demand respect and forge her own path, I wished that there would have been more of a change within the entire Terror MC, namely in including women in their ranks.I love Katie McGarry's books. After reading so many, I feel like I'm coming home to old friends in a world that I've gotten to know well. She writes characters and relationships so well, and I'm excited to see what she does next!

Then I gave the first book a chance and I was absolutely blown away. Not only does Katie McGarry know how to write a contemp story, she knows how to pull the reader in and never let them go. In the first book, nearly all of the characters are introduced - but the story focuses on Oz and Emily. Oh Oz. Mercy he was a steamy character. The second book centered around Razor and Brianna. Have mercy on my soul, Razor. Talk about the bad boy of every girl's dreams. Yowza. And the newest book focuses on Chevy and Violet. What girl hasn't wanted to take Chevy into her arms and try to take away his pain? I know I have. It is no secret that Chevy and Violet have know each other since birth. They grew up together and fit together like peanut butter and jelly. These two are simply made for each other but things in Violet's past make her want to leave the only life she has ever know. Not only does she want to flee to find a better life for herself, she wants to protect her brother, Stone. No matter how hard Violet tries, she is always pulled back to Chevy. Chevy has never stop caring about Violet and he never will. He will protect her and her brother until his very last breath.In this story, Chevy and Violet find themselves being kidnapped by The Riot, the rival motorcycle club, and things do not go well. Both Chevy and Violet are injured pretty badly. Only, it seems Violet was the one they were after. The leader of The Riot talks to Violet and tells her of their plan that only she can help them with. If she follows through, it means she and her brother will be able to leave Snowflake and never look back. But can she do it? Can she give The Riot what they want to bring down The Reign of Terror? She finds herself running to Chevy for safety and comfort. Can she make the right decision? Can she let Chevy back into her life? Can she finally accept that the life she has now really isn't terrible?I loved these characters. Everyone makes an appearance in this story and that made my heart happy. McGarry does a fantastic job of keeping all characters involved and even introducing new ones. The tension between Chevy and Violet is just as delicious as you would think it would be given the previous two stories in this series. Both characters are wonderfully complex yet intoxicating. I found I could not stop reading because I had to know what would happen to the both of them. This book ended much sooner than I wanted it to. It made me even more curious to know what happens next, if there even is a next book. I sure hope so!I promised I would not give anything away and I'm sticking to that. Bottom line - AMAZING. BEAUTIFUL. HEARTWARMING. SIZZLING. So many wonderful things happened in this book. Characters developed, bonds deepened, truths came out, hearts were healed. But please, pick up this book today so you can read Chevy & Violet's story for yourself. Then come back and talk to me so we can fangirl together.
